At 2635 16th Street, NW, directly north of the Richardsonian Romanesque-style Warder Mansion sits a modest three-story, grey-painted brick house, built in 1907 by John Simpson & Sons (1865-1919) for William Addison Rogers (1843-1920) and his wife, Icadora “Dora” Carrothers Rogers (1845-1932). The modest home was built for $7150 (approximately $240K today). Rogers served as a Chief of the Office of Adjudication for the War Department and Treasury Department.

The house was used as a residence until the 1960s when it was sold to the National Lutheran Council for use as a social services office. Last sold in 1991 to a private entity for $300K, the present estimated value of the house is $1.4M.

The Rogers House is one of the oldest structures in the Meridian Hill Historic District and is designated as a contributing structure.
